Sexual Assault Awareness Month – April 2012
This month, our Army commemorates National Sexual Assault Awareness Month and reaffirms our commitment to eradicate sexual assault and sexual harassment in our ranks and in our Army communities.
Achieving Cultural Change through Dignity and Respect is this year’s theme. As members of a profession sworn to protect others – united by the bonds of trust between brothers and sisters in arms – we must all recognize and embrace our individual responsibility to ensure dignity and respect in our workplaces and communities. We must ensure that all members of the Army Family, without exception, understand that sexual assault and sexual harassment has no place in our Army.
In keeping with the Army’s “I. A.M. Strong” campaign, we call upon every Soldier, Civilian and Family Member to have the personal courage to intervene, regardless of the time or place; Act decisively to stand up and protect members of our Army Family from all forms of sexual assault and harassment; and Motivate others through the Army Values to be vigilant in the fight to protect your team
An Army free of sexual assault and sexual harassment, where every Soldier, Civilian and Family Member is treated with dignity and respect, is a fundamental right for everyone in our ranks. Our Army Family deserves nothing less. Army Strong!
